Triangle Anime and Manga Review: Spring 2021 Wrap-up
Sunday Jul 04, 2021
Sunday Jul 04, 2021
This week Logan and Ozzy wrap up the spring 2021 season talking about how each show ended and what they liked and disliked about each show.
(4:00) First we discuss some shows which we were unable to watch the entire series of, either because we had not watched the previous seasons (Fruits Basket Final), the series was too depressing for Logan (86, don't worry Ozzy watched it), or because we dropped the series (Higehero).
(18:00) We follow this up by talking about 2 series we are looking forward to the continuation of. Don't Tease Me Nagataro was full of good surprises and Tokyo Revengers leaves us looking forward to an exciting second half.
(35:00) Then Logan and Ozzy gush about Vivy: Fluorite Eyes Song, and how much they enjoyed the unique twist on robots and time travel that the show provided.
(47:41) We then discuss our favorite anime of the entire season, Odd Taxi, and the different ways the ending of the show can be interpreted.
(58:30) Finally, we wrap up our talk about the spring season by discussing the other anime we watched on and off and what there was to like or dislike about them.
(1:13:00) We shortly discuss the manga which were cancelled recently y shuiesha and what we can expect to see in the near future for a few manga.
(1:15:42) To end the show Ozzy and Logan talk about the Manhwa "Tale of a Scribe that Retires to the Countryside". We both thoroughly enjoyed the series and its charm, despite finding some major issues with the plot development as the story continues.
Our Manga for next time is "100 Girlfriends who Really Really Really Love You", an extremely over the top comedy manga about a highschooler dating multiple girlfriends at the same time. Ozzy doesn't like manga with harems so he is almost certainly going to hate it.

Tuesday Jun 08, 2021
This week Ozzy and Logan discuss some of the controversial topics in anime. Ozzy has been reading up on how one of his favorite shows, "Don't Bully Me Nagataro", has been getting some heat. So we start by discussing bullying in anime and how the term "Bullying" may not be the correct translation for what is happening in "Don't Bully Me Nagataro" (5:13)
Then we get into the hot topic of hot topics in anime, oversexualization of women and underage women in particular. This issue has become a serious concern in other countries, especially those considering bringing anime and manga into their countries. Mushoku Tensei was one of the most recent anime that presented some uncomfortable sexual acts, and was banned in many countries because of this. Logan and Ozzy attempt to determine why these topics are so common in anime and what some possible corrections could be in the future to prevent these issues from continuing in anime. (18:50)
They also express their frustrations regarding how some sexual aspects seem to be worked into stories for no reason and end up ruining good stories. We also discuss some other topics which are putting a negative spotlight on anime worldwide. (33:45)
So that's some uncomfortable stuff. If you don't want to listen to all that just skip to (46:40) and listen to us talk about the shows we are looking forward to watching in Summer 2021.
For our manga review this week we discuss Frieren at the Funeral. (1:11:00) a story about an elf from the hero party who, following the defeat of the demon king, continues to live on despite the passing of her comrades. As her life continues she realizes how important the fleeting moments she spent with her friends were. Ozzy loves it. definitely worth a read.
Our Manga Recommendation this week is a Manhwa called "Tale of a Scribe that Retires to the Countryside". The tale of a scribe (go figure) who, through a convoluted series of events, is tasked with recording the adventures of a martial artist he is accompanying through the countryside. Check it out before next week.

Triangle Anime and Manga Review: Spring 2021 Depressing Time Travel Anime
Sunday May 23, 2021
Sunday May 23, 2021
This week on the Triangle anime and manga review Ozzy and Logan start off by discussing the anime subreddit ratings of this season's anime. Logan takes beef with most of the ratings, but maybe that's the alcohol talking.
Then we review the anime 86 (17:05), a mecha anime that touches on some difficult and uncomfortable topics. Topics like racism, child soldiers, genocide, and other great subject matters. Ozzy highlights the highpoints of the series while Logan struggles with the negative outlook the anime presents.
We then go into Tokyo Revengers (32:05), a time travel story about a nobody in his current timeline, sent back to his youth as a delinquent in an attempt to correct many problems facing him and his friends in the future. An interesting story with many twists and turns.
Then Ozzy and Logan discuss Higehero (47:05) a complicated story about an older male taking in an underage girl off the street to live with him. While both Ozzy and Logan enjoy the idealism of the story, they also struggle with some of the real world implications and complications that accompany such a story.
Finally we review Vivy - Fluorite Eye's Song (1:01:48) A beautifully drawn sci-fi epic about an idol A.I. teaming up with a program from the future to help prevent a robot apocalypse. The highlight of the season thus far.
For Manga, Ozzy gives his opinion on The Duke of Death and His Black Maid (1:21:57) and discusses how it compares to Don't Tease Me Nagataro. Our Recommended manga for next week is Frieren at the Funeral, a story about the elf in the hero party who outlives her companions after the end of their journey. After the end of one journey, she begins another journey of self-discovery.

Triangle Anime and Manga Review: Spring 2021and Mugen Train Reviews
Sunday May 09, 2021
Sunday May 09, 2021
This Week Ozzy and Logan begin their reviews of the current anime season and of the Kimetsu no Yaiba movie Mugen Train.
(4:00) Ozzy and Logan discuss Mugen Train. The impact culturally of having an anime movie which has achieved new heights in viewership and income. How the movie ties into the upcoming 2nd season of the show. And what specific details they enjoyed about the movie, such as the artwork and audio effects.
(14:25) Ozzy and Logan begin their reviews of the Spring 2021 anime season with "These Snow White Notes". A story about a shamisen player trying to find his sound by gaining new experiences in the world.
(24:52) The review of "To Your Eternity" a nuanced story about an eternal being learning what it means to be human. The highlight of the anime season thus far.
(37:35) Review of "Oddtaxi" Ozzy and Logan's darkhorse for most interesting anime of the year. A story of Odokawa, a taxi driver, and all the people he interacts with in the city. As the story continues more mysteries come to light through Odokawa's interactions. Definitely more than what the show seems to be on the surface.
(48:30) Because Ozzy hates Logan we review "I've Been Killing Slimes for 300 Years and Maxed Out My Level" A simple comedy story about a immortal witch who has become an overpowered character by killing 5 slimes a day every day for 300 years. Just because Logan doesn't enjoy it doesn't mean you won't
(56:30) We list off other popular anime this season which we plan to review in the future.
(1:04:32) Ozzy gives us his thoughts on "Mashle: Muscles and Magic" and how it rips off his stories from his childhood. Logan then lets Ozzy pick a manga tp review for next week which will soon receive an anime adaptation. Ozzy chooses between "Moon-led Journey Across Another World" or "The Duke of Death and His Black Maid". Tune in to see which one he chooses.

This week Logan and Ozzy are talking about, what Logan calls, the power tiers of OP characters. Logan has categorized main characters from different manga on their way to becoming over powered characters in their universes and discusses how their power levels impact how the story for the anime progresses.
Logan and Ozzy also attempt to place different anime characters in each tier without getting attacked on the internet... we'll see how that plays out. This leads into their discussion of what story types they enjoy the most in shonen anime and what types of characters are supported by those stories.
Following up on last week's manga recommendation Logan and Ozzy discuss their thoughts on "Teppuu". Ozzy only had to read 10 chapters, but ended up reading the entire series (granted its only about 35 chapters long) if that tells our listeners anything. We discuss the characters and the MMA representation in detail and just generally gush about the series.
This week's recommended manga is "MASHLE: Muscles and Magic", which is a weekly manga currently running in shonen jump. The main character Mash, who is super strong, is forced to enter a magic academy. Since Mash cannot use magic he must find a way to succeed in the school by only using his muscles. What appears at first to be a bold rip off of One Punch Man combined with the Harry Potter Universe turns into a lively comedy and action manga with diverse characters.

Triangle Anime and Manga Review: What makes a sports anime?
Tuesday Apr 13, 2021
Tuesday Apr 13, 2021
This week, to celebrate the start of Major League Baseball and end of March Madness, Logan and Ozzy are talking sports anime and manga. Logan and Ozzy discuss why manga artists and story tellers like to write sports manga despite the seeming difference in fanbases between manga readers and sports watchers.
Logan Then asks Ozzy to help him qualify whether certain anime are technically sports anime. Wikipedia says Speed Racer and the recent anime "How Heavy are the Dumbells you lift?" are sports anime, Logan isn't sure if he agrees.
Finally Ozzy and Logan cover what they feel their requirements for a good sports story are. To wrap Logan and Ozzy discuss their thoughts on the recommended manga from last week "Mieruko-chan".
This week's recommended manga is "Teppuu", A female MMA manga about Ishido Natsuo, a talented girl who is struggling to find motivation and purpose despite the athletic skills she possess'. Also Natsuo enjoys beating people up and crushing other athlete's dreams... so if you're expecting a cute manga about making friends and spending time with other people this probably won't be what you're looking for.

Monday Feb 01, 2021
Monday Feb 01, 2021
Andrew, Artem, and Logan are trying something new this offseason. We are covering some college football stories to go over the history and nuances of the sport that people may be unfamiliar with.
This week, we discuss the fall of the Nebraska college football program. How this powerhouse program with a storied history of championships and corn has missed making a bowl game over the past half decade. We also discuss the rise of the Big 12 and how things fell apart. Not just for the Big 12 conference as it was, but for many of the teams tied to the conference.
Look forward to new topic coverage outside of our usual week to week coverage of current college football.
