This week Andrew and Logan spend the majority of their time complaining about the results of the Week 1 game for Georgia Tech football and why Geoff Collins is terrible. But that's not all we also highlight some teams that saw some more success in week 1 and cover our expectations for games going into Week 2.

College football is Back! with the start of week 1 on the horizon the TML guys discuss the new "Alliance" formed by the ACC, Big 10, and PAC 12. They also discuss which players they are expecting to see things from on week 1 of the college football season and make their matchup picks.

Triangle Anime and Manga Review: Isekai Discussion

This week Logan and Ozzy take time away from the summer anime season to discuss the Isekai anime. (4:40) First we cover what isekai animes are and where the majority of the isekai's that are flooding the market seem to be coming from. (13:45) We then discuss different categories of Isekai and their charm. (36:20) Finally we discuss why Isekai has become so popular and what differentiates a good isekai from a bad one. (58:40) Finally Ozzy gives his review of the manga recommendation from the last episode, we talk about Putin and the Ride on King.

Toe Meets Leather: 2021 Games to look forward to

This week the Toe Meets Leather team discuss playoff expansion and the games they are most looking forward to in the college football 2021 season. Also we discuss the olympics and more impacts of conference expansion.

Triangle Anime and Manga Review: Summer 2021, Great Art and Sequels

This week Ozzy and Logan begin their reviews of the Summer 2021 season. This season is chaotic as it has many spaced out release dates, meaning some shows are 6 episodes in at the time of release, and some are 2 episodes in. We try our best to highlight the new series which have released at least 3 episodes.

 

We start with Aquatope on White Sands (12:00) an anime about two girls and an aquarium. After her dream of becoming an idol does not play out as she expected, Fuuka Miyazawa takes a spontaneous trip to Okinawa where she meets Kukuru Misakino. Kukuru is struggling to keep the Gama Gama aquarium open. After experiencing the magic of the aquarium, Fuuka decides to help Kukuru fulfill her dream of saving the aquarium. An anime about the crossroads of aspirations which is assisted by beautiful art.

 

Then Logan and Ozzy cover Sonny Boy (25:25) a Lord of the Flies-esque anime about kids who are transferred to another world alone and gain super powers. It gets weird. Another series with great art that seems to be more of a character study of different life philosophies than an actual story.

 

We then look back at our pasts with Remake our Life (38:00) a story about a person who is sent back in time. He decides to use this opportunity to pursue video game design, which was something he had previously given up on. Can he change his future and make his dreams come true? Logan doesn't think so, since the guy seems more interested in forming a harem, but Ozzy likes this story alot.

 

Finally, we evaluate our life decisions by discussing Girlfriend Girlfriend (53:00) an anime about a guy who has a girlfriend. he is then confessed to by another girl and decides to convince his current girlfriend that he should date both of them. hilarity and poor life decisions ensue. Surprisingly we both thought it was funny and enjoyed this anime way more than we should have.

 

Other animes (1:04:10) we discuss all the sequels out and some of the other interesting series that are currently out. This includes Kobayashi's Dragon Maid, Villainess: All Paths Lead to Doom, Itaden, Re:Main, Higurashi Sotsu, Vanitas, Duke of Death and his Maid who has massive eyes, and some others.

 

Our manga for this review was Kaguya-Sama: Love is War (1:18:40) which Ozzy thoroughly enjoyed. The recommendation for the next review is "The Ride On King", a manga about Vladimir Putin (no not really, but close enough) being transferred to another world. In this new world Putin attempts to ride all the unique animals present there. Its about as ridiculous as it sounds.

This week in college football Artem, Pat, and Logan discuss the potential addition of Oklahoma and Texas to the SEC. The impact it will make on the Big 12, the SEC, and all other college conferences.

 

We also discuss who we think will be the winner of each Power 5 conference in 2021 and who the potential challengers in the conferences will be.

Triangle Anime and Manga Review: What Makes a Fight Scene?

This week Logan and Ozzy discuss the finer points of anime fight scenes:

 

After discussing our experience with real life fight, we discuss what makes a fight interesting within an anime (7:20).

 

Then we talk about 6 of our favorite fights in anime. First we discuss Chessmaster battles, the battles of strategy. Ozzy discusses the practice match between Karasano and Nekoma from Haikyuu (29:00) and Logan discusses the battle between Lelouch and Shanma in the Code Geass movie: Lelouch of the Resurrection (37:00)

 

Then next set of fights is the spectacle fight, the ones that make you feel like you can't believe what you are seeing. Logan picks the fight between Saitama and Boros in the 1st season finale of One Punch Man (45:15). Ozzy picks a fight with a heavy narrative basis in the fight of Hawks and Endeavor against Nomu in My Hero Academia (52:25).

 

Finally we discuss our favorite core 1 on 1 fights between characters. Ozzy drops the weights and picks Gaara v Rock Lee from Naruto (59:45). Logan goes for a visual stunner in the final fight between the foreigner and no name in the movie Sword of the Stranger (1:08:55)

 

To end the episode (1:17:50) we discuss the manga recommendation from last episode "100 Girlfriends who Really Really Really Love You". Ozzy hates it, despite some of its comedic aspects.  Our manga review for next episode sticks with the fight theme. We will be reading "Kaguya-Sama: Love is War" a romantic comedy about two high schoolers who can't admit their love for each other, unless the other one confesses first.

Toe Meets Leather Returns for the upcoming 2021 season. This week the crew discusses the passing of the NIL (Name, Image, and Likeness) legislation for college sports. What are the impacts of this change for the schools and the players and how things may change in the future.
